Cuthbertson: The Cavs (8-5, 3-2) will need to fill a very big pair of shoes at the QB position with the graduation of Austin Kendall, now at Oklahoma. Kendall is Union Co.’s all-time leading passer in yards and TDs for a career. The Cavs graduate 2 of their 3 leading rushers from 2015. Junior Christian Heinzelman returns after 519 yards and 6 TDs in 2015. Whoever is at QB for the Cavs he will have a big-time receiver in JT Cauthen catching the ball. Cauthen cough 49 receptions for 981 yards and 12 TDS. Senior Casey Stamper returns after 25 receptions for 318 yards and 3 TDS as a junior.

Defensively the Cavs graduate their top 5 tacklers (Ausiello/Butler/Panko/Kelligrew/Caldwell) from 2016. Coach Johnson will look to build around junior linebacker Carter Kendall (39 tackles/3 sacks/1 int). Kendall is a contender for UCHSF D-Player of the year in 2016. The Cavs will open up hosting Victory Christian on August 18th.
