The Yellow Jackets want to make sure last season was no fluke. The offense is back with SR QB Brady Hibbard. Hibbard was 2nd Team All-UCHSF & the UCHSF Newcomer of the Year after putting up 1818 passing yards and 25 TDs in 10 games. Senior RB Rod Smith (2nd Team All-UCHSF) returns to tailback after 508 yards and 7 TDs splitting time with Gabe Crowder in 2022. The real strength of the Yellow Jacket offense will be the 3 WR's that are returning. Junior Jerel Bolder, senior Ross Smith and junior Kemarion Massey. Bolder was 2nd Team All-UCHSF and has reported multiple D1 offers after a 32 reception 685 yards 9 TD season as a sophomore. Smith (2nd Team All-UCHSF) led the Yellow Jackets in receiving TDs with 11 and added 660 receiving yards. Massey had 29 receptions for 422 and 5 TDs.

The Yellow Jacket defense forced 23 turnovers and gave up just 10.9 points per game and held their opponent to single digits 5 times in 2022 including 2 shutouts in 2022. The Yellwo Jackets are led by 4-year starter LB Caiden Smith. Smith had 107 tackles (66 solo) in 11 games. Senior Christyan Washington is a rover and was 1st Team All-UCHSF while putting up with 5 interceptions and 39 tackles. His counterpart Ahmir Stafford (55 stops) and Jaquavion Smith (54 stops) were 2nd and 3rd in tackles respectively in 2022. Jaquavion Smith and Caiden Smith are UCHSF Defensive POY Candidates. Senior Gael Moreno was 27-of-36 on PATS and sophomore Sam Mullis was 1-of-2 on field goals both return to the Yellow Jacket special teams. The Yellow Jackets open the 2023 season at Ashbrook on Aug. 18th.
