Monroe: The Monroe Redhawks (12-3 & 5-0) won the Rocky River Conference in 2016 but will be in the SCC for 2017. Junior Trey Shepherd stepped in for the injured Zephaniah Wall and was very productive. Shepherd threw for 1246 yards and 14 TDs and ran for 388 yards and 4 TDs. The Redhawks return their leading rusher in senior McKinley Nelson after 1244 yards and 17 TDs in 20160 Junior receiver Traevon Kenion returns after 618 yards and 8 TDs and is receiving multiple division-1 scholarship offers in the off season.

Defensively the Redhawks graduate their top four tacklers (Coffie, Bryant, Staton, Goings) and will need to replace that leadership and productivity. The Redhawk defense had 7 defensive TDs in 2016 and will need to make that up. Junior outside linebacker Chris Colon is the leading tackler returning after recording 97 in 2016. McKinley had 89 stops and defensive end Justin Crowder had 69 along with six sacks. Johnathan Phillips and Jahtwan Stafford led the Redhawks with four interceptions in 2016 and are back for the 2017 season. The Redhawks open the 2017 season hosting Anson Co. on August 18th.
