    Yellow Jackets end 2018 with win 47-22

    Forest Hills ended the 2018 regular season on a winning note Friday night, defeating the Anson Co. Bearcats 47-22. Led by senior RB Kendrick McLaurin, the Jackets shutout the Bearcats in the first half and led 20-0. McLaurin rushed for two touchdowns in the first half and would tack on a third in the fourth quarter. Forest Hills sophomore Jaqulin Burch tacked on a score to push the lead to 27-7. Anson would cut the lead to 27-14 late in the third quarter, but that would be the closest the Bearcats would get. Senior quar terback Jai Rorie found junior Jayden Avalos to push the Yellow Jackets lead to 33-14. McLaurin’s score extended the lead to 40-14 before sophomore Elijah Funderburk scored the final touchdown of the night for the home team. Forest Hills improves to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky River Conference. The Yellow Jackets finish third overall in the RRC and await their playoff fate adn look to play Friday NOv. 16th.

      Yellow Jackets fall to Cannon

      Cannon outscored Forest Hills 21-0 in the second half to pull away for the non-conference win. It was back and forth in the first half with five lead changes. Senior Kendrick McLaurin rushed for 248 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries for FH. He got his team on the scoreboard first with a touchdown for the 7-0 lead. With the score tied, senior Keeshwan Tyson caught a pass from senior Jai Rorie for the 14-7 lead. Tyson now has 35 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games. Cannon tied it up again at 14 before McLaurin scored his second touchdown of the night to take a 20-14 lead. McLaurin rushed for 248 yards on 21 carries, giving him three 200-yard games on the year. In eight games played, McLaurin now has 16 rushing touchdowns and 1,391 yards (9.2 yards per carry). Cannon took its first lead of the night, 21-20, before Rorie threw his second touchdown of the night, this time to sophomore Romel Wright to give the Yellow Jackets the halftime lead at 26-21. Tyson finished with 82 receiving yards. The Cougars returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the second half. Forest Hills is now 2-8 overall and will be at home Friday against Anson Nov. 2nd

        Yellow Jackets fall to 1st place Tigers

        Mount Pleasant pulled away from Forest Hills to get the home conference win. With the win, the Tigers move into a tie for first place with West Stanly in the Rocky River Conference. Forest Hills got a big night from Kendrick McLaurin, but it just wasn’t enough. The senior running back ran for 155 yards on the night, including an 80 yard touchdown run. Despite missing two games, McLaurin has now rushed for 1,128 yards and 14 touchdowns so far in 2018. The Yellow Jackets trailed, 14-0, but would score early in the second quarter as senior quarterback Jai Rorie found sophomore J.J. Williams for the short touchdown pass that cut the lead to 14-7. Rorie finished the night 16-23 passing with 177 yards and the one touchdown. The Tigers led 28-7 at the half and at one point scored 27 unanswered points to take a 41-7 lead. Forest Hills is now 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the RRC. The Yellow Jackets will travel to face Cannon (Concord) Friday Oct. 26th.

          Yellow Jackets hammer E. Montgomery 55-7

          The Yellow Jacket seniors Kendrick McLaurin and Jai Rorie helped to lead the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets to a 55-7 win over East Montgomery 55-7. The win snaps a five game losing streak. The Yellow Jackets scored 29 straight points before allowing an East Montgomery touchdown. Senior tailback Kendrick McLaurin scored four touchdowns on the night, including three in the first half, and finished the game with 124 yards on 12 carries while catching two passes for 54 yards. Despite missing two games this season, McLaurin has rushed for 973 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. The Yellow Jacket passing was extremely efficient, with Rorie completing 20 out of 21 passes while throwing for 276 yards and three touchdowns. Senior WR Keeshawn Tyson had four catches for 81 yards and a TD while junior Jayden Avalos recorded 61 yards and a TD on six catches. Senior Marion Holmes also caught a TD pass and sophomore Elijah Funderburk added 61 receiving yards and a score. Forest Hills improves to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the RRC. The Jackets play at Mount Pleasant on Friday Oct. 19th.

            Yellow Jackets fall in shoot-out 55-48

            In the Rocky River Conference opener for both teams, West Stanly held off Forest Hills to get the home win. The Yellow Jackets were up 14-7 in the first quarter before the Colts responded with 21 unanswered points to take a 28-14 halftime lead. Yellow Jacket Kendrick McLaurin carried the ball 29 times for 309 yards and four touchdowns. His 309 rushing yards puts him at #9 allt-time in Union Co for rushing yards in a game. Forest Hills has now lost five straight and is 1-6 overall. The Yellow Jackets will host East Montgomery Friday Oct. 12.

              Central Cabarrus shuts out Yellow Jackets

              Forest Hills fell to Central Cabarrus 55-0 in its last game before conference play begins. The road team led 8-0 after the first quarter, but the Vikings would score 24 points to put the game out of reach by halftime. Central’s 55 points were a season high and they remain undefeated on the season. Forest Hills falls to 1-5 on the year. The Yellow Jackets will look to snap a four-game losing streak on Friday Oct. 5th when they travel to face West Stanly in their conference opener.

                Yellow Jackets fall to rival Monroe 62-13

                After gaining 30 yards on their opening drive, the Yellow Jackets were held to just 21 the rest of the first half. Monroe outgained Forest Hills 454-147 on the night. Sophomore JJ Williams was a bright spot for Forest Hills, scoring touchdowns on a blocked punt and a reception. Forest Hills' Jai Rorie was10-of-22 for 79 yards. Senior Kendrick Mclaurin was held to 59 yards rushing on 17 carries. Forest Hills The Yellow Jackets have a bye week and will host Central Cabarrus riday Sept. 28th.

                  Yellow Jackets shut out 34-0

                  Forest Hills was held scoreless falling to Piedmont 34-0. Forest Hills senior quarterback Jai Rorie finished 20-of-41 for 206 yards with two interceptions. He guided the Jackets inside Piemdont’s 10-yard line on two different drives, but FH failed to convert on fourth-down plays both times. Senior receiver Marion Holmes stood out for the Jackets, finishing with nine catches for 95 yards. Forest Hills gave up 284 yards rusing to Piedmont and could only muster 38 rushing yards in the loss. The Yellow Jackets host archrival Monroe Friday Sept. 14th.

                    Yellow Jackets come up short 45-40 to rival Pageland

                    A back and fourth game saw the lead change 10 times with Pageland came out on top 45-40 over Forest Hills. Forest Hills would take their last lead of the night as senior Jai Rorie found senior receiver Marion Holmes from 45 yards out for their first advantage of the second half, 40-39, with just around seven minutes left in the game. Pageland would score the game winning touchdown with three minutes left and would hold off the Yellow Jackets for the victory. Forest Hills led 26-25 at the break. Senior Kendrick Mclaurin gave his team the lead for the first time, 12-7, on a 60-yard touchdown run. Rorie would find junior Jayden Avalos for a 45-yard touchdown pass and sophomore J.J. Williams toward the end of the half to help give his team the lead. The Yellow Jackets host Piedmont Friday Sept. 7th.

                      Yellow Jackets win close one 27-23

                      After a wild fourth quarter that included four lead changes, Forest Hills High’s football team escaped with a 27-23 road win over Parkwood on Friday. The Yellow Jackets improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Rebels fell to 0-2. Forest Hills scored the gamewinner with 1:37 left in the fourth, when senior quarterback Jai Rorie hit senior receiver Keeshawn Tyson on slant from seven yards out. Parkwood had one last chance on the ensuing drive, but Jackets sophomore safety Tyquan Rushing intercepted a deep pass to secure the win. Rorie finished 19-of-36 for 234 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He completed just five of his first 14 passes before completing seven straight at one point. Both of Rorie’s TD passes went to Tyson, including a 26-yarder just before halftime. Jackets senior Kendrick McLaurin eclipsed 100 yards on the ground for the second straight week, finishing with 117 yards and a 35-yard TD run. The Yellow Jackest will be at Pageland Central (SC) Friday Aug 31st.

                        Yellow Jackets fall in season opener

                        The Yellow Jackets scored first but were ubable to hold the Spartan offense in check, losing 35-13 to open the 2018 season. Forest Hills marched down the field for a 79-yard scoring drive capped off by a 10-yard touchdown pass from senior Jai Rorie to sophomore Romel Wright to take a 7-0 lead. Sun Valley answered back with a touchdown drive of their own after Forest Hills knocked out Howell for a few plays. Forest Hills ran for 239 yards on just 28 carries. Senior running back Kendrick McLaurin, now the featured back, carried 18 times for 201 yards, busting loose in the fourth quarter for an 80-yard touchdown that cut the game to two scores but never got any closer. The Yellow Jackest will be at Parkwood Friday Aug 24th.
