The Parkwood Rebels (5-7, 2-3) will have a new man under center in the 2016 season. Junior Eli Ackerman will be leading the Rebels for head coach Lynn Coble. Ackerman, (6’0, 150lbs) was the Rebels’ junior varsity quarterback. The Rebels’ running attack will be without Tre Butler, who scored 18 TDs and ran for 1233 yards and was named ALL-Rocky River as a senior. Ackerman will have two potent weapons at his disposal. Rising junior Nick Stitt will be in his third year as a starting receiving and senior Bryant Ferguson- Springs can play receiver, running back or QB. Ferguson-Springs led the team last season with 341 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Stitt added 143 yards and one touchdown. Rising junior Jajuan Benton will be the featured running back to start the season. Rising junior Jajuan Benton will be the featured running back for the Rebels. Benton ran for 129 yards and averaged 4.8 yards per carry. Donovan Harris returns at fullback for the Rebels. Harris had 332 yards and seven touchdowns last year. The Rebels lose 4 of their top 5 tacklers from 2015. The loss of Tyler Tyson (157 tackles and 3 interceptions) will be felt on the defense. Junior Seth Shimmer is back after logging 68 tackles in 2015 also leading the Rebels in sacks with 3.5. Senior linebacker Matt Franklin returns after totaling 40 tackles in 2015. Nick Stitt will be back in the defensive backfield leading the way. Stitt had two interceptions for Parkwood in 2015. The Rebels open up the 2016 season home hosting Union Academy on August 19th.
