Parkwood Rebels

Parkwood: The Rebels (6-6 & 2-3) will have a few changes from the 2016 season. Those changes will start with the head coach. Tim Speakman will take over for Lynn Coble this season. The Rebels are leaving the 2A Rocky River Conference for the 3A SCC. Parkwood has an experienced quarterback in senior Eli Ackerman, who threw for 1,495 yards and threw for 18 touchdowns to six interceptions. The Rebels lost their top two receivers when Bryant Ferguson-Springs and Caleb Lee graduated. Jajuan Benton returns after putting up 862 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2016. He will run behind a rebuilding line but has the 6-6, 280-pound Saldiveri as an chore. Saldiveri scholarship has offers from Richmond and Old Dominion. The Rebels lost four starters and nine offensive linemen overall. A new cast that includes Kendal Thomas, Isaiah Rape, will surround Saldiveri on the offensive line.

Defensively the Rebels return their two top tacklers from 2016. Senior linebacker Seth Shimmer will lead the Rebel defense for Coach Speakman. Shimmer, a 2017 UCHSF D-POY Candidate led the Rebels with 166 tackles in 2016. Senior safety Marc Crimmins had 116 stops in 2016. The Rebels open up the 2017 season home hosting Central Academy on August 18th.
