2018 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2018 UnionCountyHighSchoolFootball.com's Defensive Player of the Year is Weddington's Eamon Murphy. Eamon helped lead the Weddington Warriors to a 15-1 record and the 3A State Title! Eamon recorded 166 tackles, 91 solo tackles and had 13 tackles for a loss. Murphy, a 6’1 195 pound linebacker recorded 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and added a blocked punt and scored a TD on defense. Eamon was named 1st team All-UCHSF as a senior and All-SCC for the second year in a row. He recorded double digit tackles in 7 games including a season high 22 tackles vs. Charlotte Catholic. Recorded 13 tackles and an interception in the 3AA State Title game. Murphy also had 3 receptions for 83 yards and a TD on offense to top off his outstanding 2018 season Eamon would go on to play lacrosse at West Point. Congratulations Eamon it has been a pleasure!
