Weddington: The Warriors (11-3, 4-1) will look to make another run in the 3A state playoffs after falling to Crest in 2OT 47-44 last season. Senior David Bayha will be back under center after seeing limited action (308 yards/ 5 TDs) in 2015. Bayha had a tremendous sophomore year (1608 yards/22 TDs) leading the Warriors to a 3A State title game appearance. The Warriors leading rusher returning is Joey Bensch with 190 yards and 1 TD. Christian sanchez graduates with his1216 yards and 8 TDS from 2015.

The Warrior defense loses the Moore twins (Lance and Miles) and that will be a major loss but Coach Carson’s defense returns 5 of their 10 top tacklers from 2015. Joey Hobbs and Denzel Patton are the leading tacklers returning for Coach Carson. Hobbs registered104 tackles and 2015 Patton finished with 74 in 2015.

The Warriors will miss another weapon in kicker Keith Duncan, who has moved on to play football at Iowa. Duncan kicked 124 points in 2015 including a Union Co. record 22 field goals as a senior and finished his career with 51 field goals for another Union Co. record. Weddington opens up at Ardrey Kell on August 19th.
