The Yellow Jackets are back to their winning ways after back to back 10+ win seasons under Coach Deese. The offense averaged 35.6 points a game. One key factor of this offense was receiver Jerel Bolder. Bolder, the 6’4” star receiver, will make his return to the Yellow Jacket offense to prove himself during his senior year. Bolder had 881 yards on 41 receptions and 12 touchdowns during his junior year campaign along with Bolder, Kemarion Massey, 5’11” will also be making his return to the Yellow Jackets as a receiver. Massey registered 573 yards on 38 catches and eight touchdowns during the 2023 season. The Yellow Jacket offense will have either senior Zach Dilworth or junior Cam Winnegan at quarterback. Dilworth, 6’3” made the transfer from Piedmont and is competing with junior Cam Winnegan for the starting spot. Dilworth had 916 yards and three touchdowns through the air to pair with 15 interceptions. Winnegan finished the year with 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Leading the defensive side of the ball is senior defensive end Jacobi Leak. Leak, 6’1”, had 26 total tackles and two fumble recoveries last season. Accompanying Leak at defensive end is junior Danny Redfern. Redfer registered 24 total tackles as a sophomore for the Yellow Jacket defense. Kai “KP” Phinazee looks to return to the defensive line as well after making his start as a freshman last season. Junior Cam Winnegan leads a secondary composed of fresh faces. The Yellow Jacket kicking game will have senior Sam Mullis back. Mullis went 55-of-60 on extra points and 4-of-6 on field goals. The Yellow Jackets open the 2023 season hosting Ashbrook on Aug. 23rd.
