The Mavericks will need to replace a lot of offense in 2025. The offensive backfield is need with the graduation of QB Braydon Rediger and RB Zach Lee. The QB position is between UA transfer sophomore Parker Frashier and Adam Aoun. Aoun is a junior who played at East Mecklenburg in 2024. Junior RB Cole Hawkins is the leading rusher returning with limited experience playing in just 2 games and rushing for 32 yards rushing. The offensive line will need to be rebuilt after graduating all 5 starters in Montgomery Edwards, Nolan Rienks, Beau Gerrard, Aidan McFarland, and David Starr. The Mavericks return just 4 receivers that saw any action in 2024. Senior WR Alec Voss, headed to BC in 2026 returns after leading the Mavs with 45 catches for 696 and 7 TDs in 2024. Levi Haines had 7 receptions for 136 yards, and 1 TD returns as well. Kicker Ford Fehling, 1st Team UCHSF as a junior knocked in 25-of-25 PATs and 14-of-17 on PATs last year returns for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks defense gave up 23 points per game in 2023 and return just 4 of their top 10 tacklers from 2023. The Mavs defense will be led by senior edge rusher Manny Lewis, who is headed to App State in 2026 to continue his football career. Lewis had 67 tackles and 15 sacks as a junior. Junior “headhunter” Evan Culicerto will anchor the Maverick linebackers, 2nd on the team with 88 stops and 6 sacks in 2024. Both Lewis and Culicerto are 2025 UCHSF Defensive POY candidates as we start the season. The Mavs defensive backfield returns senior Sam Svonovec (2 INTs) and Brendan Hicks, who saw limited time had 2 INTs for the Mavs in 2024. Marvin Ridge opens the 2025 season hosting Cox Mill on Aug 22nd.
