The Pirates will have a new QB in Christian Myers to being the 2024 season. Last season’s starting QB Jalen Lockhart (1321 passing yards & 12 TDs, ran for 9 TDs) has transferred out of Union Co. Myers, 6’0 165lbs saw action in 5 games as a sophomore connecting on 5-of-6 passing attempts for 16 yards and a TD. The Pirates will need to replace Danny Kennedy (563 yds and 5 TDs) and Samaad Peoples (712 yds and 4 TDs). Senior Ziggy Harris has made the move to tailback after being a fulltime defensive player the past 2 seasons. Wide receiver Rayshawn Elmore is expecting to have a BIG season after 32 catches for 431 yards and 6 TDs in 2023. Junior kicker Ryan Ladimir is back after knocking in 41-of-43 PATs and was good on 5-of-5 on field goals in 2023.
Defensively the Pirates lose 5 of their top 6 tacklers from 2023. Senior Sawyer Ducey makes the move from free safety to linebacker after putting up 59 stops in 2023 and tying for the Union Co. in interceptions with 4 with his teammate Kisiah Harris. Junior Dawson James will anchor the defensive line after 38 stops as a sophomore in 2023. Kisiah Harris will team up with Rayshawn Elmore in the defensive backfield. Harris recorded 32 tackles in 2023. Keep an eye on James Antweiler, who has moved from linebacker to defensive end. The Pirates open the 2024 season at Rocky River on Aug. 23rd.
