Porter Ridge Pirates

Porter Ridge (8-5 & 5-2) finished 3rd in the SW4A conference and made it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs falling to Harding 17-10. The Pirates return 2-year starter Grayson McCall. McCall connected on 57% on his passes for 1414 yards and 13 TDs. McCall added 907 rushing yards and 12 TDs on the ground. Senior Jaylan Coleman returns for his senior year after leading the Pirates with 1287 rushing yards and 15 TDs in 2017. Senior Malcom Hines returns to give the Pirates a dual threat running the football. Hines ran for 1174 and 11 TDs in 2017. The Pirate receiving corps graduates Leath, Horstkamp and Richardson which leaves senior Jaylan Daniels as their leading returning receiver (10 catches/191 yards/1 TD) with the most experience.

The Pirate defense will need to rebuild after losing 9 of their top 10 tacklers. Senior LB Jared Wheatley recorded 55 tackles in 2017 and had 2 interceptions in 2017. Senior Mason Swiger returns after 2 sacks and 26 tackles in 2017. Wheatley did some kicking too, going 45-of-51 on PATs and 8-of-12 on Field-goals for Coach Hertz. The Pirates open the season on August 17th at Cuthbertson.
